The Punjab government has decided to extend winter holidays in schools and colleges by one week due to the ongoing severe cold spell across the province.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat confirmed the decision while speaking to a private TV channel, stating that the move was taken in response to falling temperatures and concerns over students’ health.

He said that children’s safety and well-being remain the top priority, and the decision to extend holidays was made after observing an increase in cold intensity.
Notification to Be Issued Today
According to the minister, the official notification will be issued today after a meeting scheduled at 3:00 pm. He added that the extension had already been decided and would be formally announced shortly.
Parents’ Demand Accepted
It is worth noting that a large number of parents had demanded a one-week extension in winter holidays, citing health risks for children amid extreme weather conditions.
Further details regarding the revised reopening date are expected to be shared once the notification is released.
