Official Flour Prices

The approved government rates are:

  • 10kg flour bag: Rs. 905

  • 20kg flour bag: Rs. 1,810

Authorities stated that 23,000 flour bags are being supplied daily in Sahiwal, and warned that no compromise will be made on the official price list. Action will be taken against anyone found overcharging.

Price Hike in Open Markets

In contrast, consumers in other cities are facing higher prices.

In Hyderabad, flour prices have increased by Rs. 10 to Rs. 20 per kilogram. A 20kg flour bag that previously sold for Rs. 2,400 is now being sold for up to Rs. 2,600.

Flour mill owners and chakki operators attribute the increase to a sharp rise in wheat prices. According to them, the price of a 100kg wheat bag has gone up by Rs. 1,300 to Rs. 1,500, directly impacting flour costs.

Similarly, in Peshawar, the price of a 20kg flour bag has reportedly increased by up to Rs. 200 within a week, adding further pressure on household budgets.

Public Concern and Monitoring

Rising flour prices have sparked concern among consumers, especially in urban areas where open market rates remain significantly higher than official prices.

Government officials say monitoring teams are active and action will be taken against profiteering, while citizens are advised to report overpricing to relevant food authorities.
