The government has introduced a major facilitation for overseas Pakistanis, allowing them to buy, sell, and transfer vehicles in Pakistan through biometric verification via the Pak ID app.
This new system is expected to significantly simplify the process, which previously required sending an authority letter verified by a Pakistani embassy—a lengthy and cumbersome procedure for expatriates.

Biometric Vehicle Transfer Process
According to officials, after the successful launch of the biometric system in Islamabad and Sindh, the Punjab government has now also started integrating the system. The DG Excise has coordinated with NADRA to ensure the service is introduced across Punjab as soon as possible.
Using the Pak ID app, overseas Pakistanis can enter:
-
Vehicle registration number
-
Chassis number
-
Owner’s name
…to complete biometric verification for vehicle transfer or purchase.
Ending Fraud and Illegal Transfers
Authorities say that this initiative will eliminate vehicle forgery and unauthorized transfers in the name of overseas Pakistanis. Currently, due to delays in biometric verification, thousands of vehicles are still operating under open letters, creating legal complications.
The integration between Excise and NADRA systems has already been finalized, and officials are confident that once implemented, it will provide significant relief to overseas Pakistanis, making vehicle ownership and transfer safer and faster.
Key Benefits for Overseas Pakistanis
-
Elimination of embassy attestation for vehicle transfers
-
Reduced time and bureaucratic hurdles
-
Prevention of fraud and illegal vehicle transfers
-
Streamlined vehicle registration and ownership processes
Officials emphasized that the Pak ID biometric system will be a game-changer for overseas Pakistanis, ensuring convenience, transparency, and security in vehicle transactions.
