A lottery player in the United States has turned patience into a life-changing win after playing the same set of numbers for nearly two decades.
The winner, a 73-year-old resident of Michigan, revealed that he has been participating in the Lotto 47 for around 20 years, consistently using the numbers 02, 03, 12, 15, 16, and 33.
Those very numbers appeared on the ticket he purchased for the December 13 draw, which turned out to be the largest jackpot in the history of Lotto 47, worth $32.9 million.
The winner said that when he first checked the ticket and saw three numbers matched, he assumed he had won a small prize, possibly around $5. However, as he continued matching the remaining numbers, disbelief set in.
“I had to clean my eyes and check the ticket again,” he said, adding that he could not immediately trust what he was seeing.
Still stunned, he called his children to share the news, but even they struggled to believe that the family had just won millions.
The story has quickly gained attention as a rare example of long-term consistency paying off, reminding lottery players that persistence, while never guaranteed, can sometimes lead to extraordinary outcomes.
