Strengthening Energy and Minerals Cooperation

During the meeting, both sides agreed to expand collaboration in the exploration and development of oil, gas, and mineral resources. The UK also offered $400 million in assistance to strengthen the capacity of the Geological Survey of Pakistan (GSP).

The funding is expected to support modern geological mapping, mineral assessment, and data development, which could attract foreign investment into Pakistan’s mineral sector.

British Support for Geological Surveys

Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said cooperation between the British Geological Survey (BGS) and the Geological Survey of Pakistan would play a key role in advancing Pakistan’s mineral industry.

“Collaboration between the British Geological Survey and the Geological Survey of Pakistan will help promote growth and development in Pakistan’s mineral sector,” the minister said.

Boost for Pakistan’s Resource Development

Officials believe the proposed assistance will improve technical expertise, data accuracy, and exploration capacity, enabling Pakistan to better identify and utilize its oil, gas, and mineral reserves.

The move is being seen as a significant step toward strengthening bilateral ties and supporting Pakistan’s long-term energy security and economic growth.
