Pakistan has earned international recognition as two of its universities have been shortlisted for the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia Awards 2026, placing the country among Asia’s leading higher education institutions.
The shortlist reflects intense regional competition, with Thailand leading with 16 nominations, followed by India with 12, while Hong Kong universities appear nine times. The eighth edition of the awards received over 500 entries across 10 categories, which were narrowed down to 80 finalists from 17 countries and territories.

Commenting on the shortlist, Times Higher Education Editor Chris Havergal said the selected entries highlight the diversity and strength of higher education across Asia, showcasing excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and community engagement.
Awards Ceremony
Winners of the Times Higher Education Asia Awards 2026 will be announced on April 22 in Hong Kong, coinciding with the opening day of the THE Asia Universities Summit, hosted in partnership with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
