Indian authorities have imposed an immediate ban on Almunt-Kid syrup after it was found to contain ethylene glycol, a chemical considered highly toxic and dangerous, especially for children.
According to Indian media reports, the action was taken after a warning was issued by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation. Following the alert, the Telangana Drugs Control Administration ordered an immediate suspension of the syrup’s use and sale.

Public Advised to Stop Use Immediately
Health authorities have clearly instructed that anyone in possession of the syrup must stop using it immediately. Since the medicine is commonly used for children, parents, pharmacies, and medical stores have been urged to exercise extreme caution.
Officials further advised citizens to inform the nearest drugs control authority without delay if the product is found in circulation.
Market Withdrawal and Enforcement Action
Drug inspectors and assistant directors across the state have been directed to:
-
Seize all available stock of the affected batch
-
Prevent retailers, distributors, traders, and hospitals from selling or distributing the syrup under any circumstances
Strict enforcement action has already been initiated to prevent further risk to public health.
Ongoing Monitoring
Authorities stated that the situation is being closely monitored, and all necessary steps are being taken to protect children from potential health hazards.
Citizens have been urged not to use the syrup under any circumstances and to follow official advisories strictly.
