While preparations are underway, weather conditions have become a concern ahead of the series. Heavy rainfall has affected Dambulla over the past 24 hours, raising questions over practice sessions and match readiness.

Forecasts suggest that the wet weather could persist in the coming days, increasing the risk of delays or interruptions at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, where all three matches are scheduled.

The T20I fixtures are set to be played on January 7, 9, and 11.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan national cricket team has already arrived in Sri Lanka. Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha is expected to address the media at 4:00 pm local time, followed by a team training session later in the evening.

Beyond the immediate series, the contest will serve as an important preparation phase for both teams ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8.
