The Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue examined workplace dress code concerns in commercial banks after Senator Zarqa Suharwardy Taimur highlighted complaints alleging that some institutions were pressuring female staff to wear abayas.
Bank officials rejected the claims, stating that no policy mandates abayas or specific clothing. They emphasized that banks only expect modest and professional attire, in line with corporate standards.

Senator Talha Mahmood suggested that any dress guidelines should reflect principles mentioned in Surah An-Nur and Surah Al-Ahzab, while still maintaining professional workplace norms.
The Committee also appreciated progress on the Pakistan Single Window (PSW) platform, which now allows traders and investors to access over 23 government services through a unified digital interface. Members requested a comprehensive presentation in the next meeting to review system upgrades and future plans.
