The Punjab government is preparing a major expansion of its ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ scheme, aiming to provide interest-free housing loans to thousands of additional low-income families across the province.
According to sources, the Bank of Punjab has developed a comprehensive financing plan worth PKR 60 billion to ensure maximum eligible citizens benefit from the housing initiative. The plan will allow more families to secure their own homes and move away from renting.
Approval and Implementation Timeline
The scheme’s expansion proposal has been submitted to the Chief Minister’s Office by the Housing Agency for final review. It is expected that the Punjab Cabinet will approve the extension in its upcoming meeting, after which practical steps for implementation will begin immediately.
Who Will Benefit?
The expansion will include additional low-income families, allowing them to access interest-free housing loans. This initiative is designed to provide long-term financial relief and help families achieve the dream of owning their own home.
Previously, the Punjab government had already spent over PKR 164 billion on the scheme, helping thousands of families achieve homeownership and improve living conditions.
