Punjab Schools Revise Timings from February 2

School timings across Punjab have been revised starting from February 2, following the expiration of the smog-related notification issued by the Environmental Protection Department.

According to official sources, most private schools have shifted their schedules to begin at 8:00 AM from Monday.

Updated School Timings

Under the new schedule:

  • School start time: 8:00 AM

  • Junior classes dismissal: 1:30 PM

  • Senior classes dismissal: 2:00 PM

Previously, due to severe smog conditions, schools were instructed to start at 8:45 AM. This policy remained in effect until January 31.

Official Statement

The Additional Secretary of Schools confirmed that private institutions are now allowed to adjust their timings independently, as the mandatory restriction has ended.

He also stated that school timings will be revised again during Ramadan according to fasting hours.

Reason for the Change

The delayed start was introduced to protect students from unhealthy air quality. With improving environmental conditions, authorities have allowed schools to return to normal routines.

Public Reaction

Many parents and teachers have welcomed the change, saying early schedules help improve discipline and academic performance.

However, some parents have raised concerns about children commuting in cold weather.
