Punjab has decided to reintroduce Class 8 board examinations after a gap of four years, with authorities rolling out a new set of rules under a centralized examination framework.
The Punjab Examination Commission has, for the first time, launched a school mapping process to establish examination centres across the province in a more organized and transparent manner.

According to officials, strict compliance with the newly issued guidelines will be ensured while setting up examination centres. Each centre will accommodate a minimum of 50 and a maximum of 300 students. To reduce travel difficulties, centres will be established within a 10-kilometre radius of students’ schools.
Under the revised rules, separate examination centres will be designated for boys and girls, and schools will not be allowed to serve as their own exam centres. Officials said this measure is intended to strengthen fairness and impartiality in the examination process.
The commission further confirmed that all school mapping and examination-related data will be collected and managed through an online application, enabling improved monitoring, transparency, and oversight.
Authorities stated that the new system aims to make the examination process more fair, transparent, and effective, while providing students with a standardized and improved testing environment across Punjab.
