The Punjab government has issued promotion orders for more than 300,000 teachers and government employees across the province, bringing long-awaited relief to staff whose career progress had remained stalled for years.
According to an official directive from the Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) Elementary Punjab, all eligible employees from Grade 1 to Grade 16 will have their promotions completed within one month. Promotion instructions have been sent to the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of all districts.
The DPI Elementary has also directed all concerned authorities to clear pending promotion files on a priority basis. The letter warns that any unnecessary delay, negligence, or non-compliance will result in disciplinary action against responsible officers.
Teachers and government employees have welcomed the decision, saying it will provide relief to thousands of deserving staff members who have been waiting for promotions for years.
Employee representatives said the move would not only boost morale but also contribute positively to the overall improvement of the provincial education system, as motivated staff play a key role in strengthening institutional performance.
