Punjab Govt Announces Major Ramadan Relief for Low-Income Families

The Punjab government has announced a major relief initiative for individuals earning less than Rs 45,000 per month ahead of Ramadan-ul-Mubarak.

Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari announced a Rs 47 billion “Nigehban Ramadan Package”, stating that approximately 4.2 million people across the province will benefit from the program.

Ramadan Sahulat Bazaars to Be Set Up

According to the minister, special Ramadan Sahulat Bazaars will be established five days before the start of Ramadan to provide essential food items at affordable prices.

These bazaars will offer daily-use commodities such as flour, rice, ghee, sugar, and other essential items at subsidized rates to ease the financial burden on the public.

Rs 10,000 Assistance Through Ration Cards

Azma Bukhari further stated that under the supervision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, eligible families will receive financial assistance of up to Rs 10,000 through ration cards.

The initiative aims to help low-income and middle-class families manage household expenses during the holy month.

Strict Action Against Hoarding and Profiteering

The provincial government has also warned that strict action will be taken against hoarding and profiteering, emphasizing that no one will be allowed to exploit the public during Ramadan.

Officials stated that this relief package reflects the government’s commitment to supporting citizens and ensuring access to essential food supplies during the holy month.
