Punjab Conducts Digital Balloting for 2,000 Free Plots

On the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Provincial Housing Minister Bilal Yasin has completed the digital balloting of 2,000 free residential plots in 19 districts under the “Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar” program.

The initiative aims to provide ownership rights free of cost to deserving and homeless families across Punjab.

📍 District-Wise Allocation (Phase One)

In the first phase, beneficiaries were selected from 19 districts, including:

  • Jhelum – 730 plots

  • Kasur – 388 plots

  • Faisalabad

  • Lodhran

  • Okara

The balloting process was conducted digitally, and successful applicants were issued their plot numbers, size, and block details.

👷 Who Benefited?

The draw included:

  • Street vendors

  • Shopkeepers

  • Mechanics

  • Daily wage workers

These individuals will now officially become landowners under the provincial housing initiative.

🏗️ What Happens Next?

According to Minister Bilal Yasin:

✔ CM Maryam Nawaz will personally distribute allotment letters in the coming days.
✔ Beneficiaries will receive government assistance for house construction.
✔ They can apply for interest-free loans under the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” program.
✔ Loan repayment will be in easy monthly installments to reduce financial burden.
✔ No hidden charges — plots are completely free.

💡 Why This Program Matters

  • Promotes home ownership among low-income families

  • Reduces homelessness

  • Encourages planned housing development

  • Supports economic stability

  • Expands access to affordable housing

Officials emphasized that this is a practical step toward providing real relief rather than symbolic announcements.
