The federal government has officially announced new petroleum product prices, bringing relief to petrol users while increasing the burden on diesel consumers.
According to the latest notification, petrol prices have been kept unchanged at Rs 253.17 per liter, while high-speed diesel has been increased by Rs 11.30 per liter.
After the increase, the new diesel price has been fixed at Rs 268.38 per liter.

New Prices Effective from February 1
The revised prices will come into effect from February 1 and will remain applicable for the next 15 days, as per the government’s pricing policy.
Authorities have already issued the official notification regarding the price adjustment.
Impact on Public and Economy
Diesel price hikes usually affect transportation costs, food prices, and overall inflation. As diesel is widely used in public transport, agriculture, and goods delivery, the increase may result in higher living expenses for ordinary citizens.
On the other hand, keeping petrol prices stable may provide slight relief to private vehicle owners and motorcycle users.
Reasons Behind Price Revision
Officials say that changes in international oil prices, exchange rate fluctuations, and adjustments in taxes and petroleum levy played a key role in determining the new rates.
The government reviews fuel prices every two weeks to balance market trends and public affordability.
Public Reaction
Many citizens have expressed concern over the rising diesel prices, fearing further increases in daily expenses. Transporters and traders are also closely monitoring the situation.
Experts advise consumers to plan fuel usage carefully amid ongoing price volatility.
