PECTA Issues New Guidelines for School-Based Assessment

The Punjab Examination Commission Testing Authority (PECTA) has issued new guidelines for School-Based Assessment (SBA) for the academic year 2025–26.

According to the issued instructions, schools will be required to upload School-Based Assessment results on the Student Information System (SIS) within one week of the assessment.

Action Against Delays in Result Upload

The notification states that strict action will be taken against the relevant Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Education if assessment results are not uploaded within the stipulated time.

PECTA and the Program Monitoring and Implementation Unit (PMIU) will jointly share and monitor assessment data and results to ensure transparency and compliance.

Details of Question Papers and Learning Outcomes

It has further been clarified that complete details of teachers involved in question paper preparation, along with learning outcomes, will also be provided as part of the assessment process.

For Grade 1 and Grade 2, oral examinations have been declared mandatory for both first-term and mid-term exams, and the oral exam results must also be uploaded on SIS.

Assessment Schedule and Implementation

PECTA will issue a School-Based Assessment schedule, however, the implementation of the schedule will be subject to approval by the School Education Department.

All CEOs Education have been directed to ensure strict implementation of the new assessment policy across their respective districts.
