PCB Announces Player Categories for PSL 11

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced the player categories for the 11th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL).

According to PCB, a total of 89 local players have been placed into five different categories, including 16 players in the Platinum category.

Key Promotions to Platinum Category

Several players have been promoted this season. Salman Ali Agha, Hasan Ali, Mohammad Nawaz, and Abrar Ahmed have been upgraded from Diamond, while Sahibzada Farhan has moved up from Gold.

Star players including Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, Saim Ayub, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, and Shadab Khan remain in the Platinum category.

Diamond and Gold Categories

The Diamond category includes 11 players, with Mohammad Wasim Jr, Sufiyan Muqeem, and Salman Mirza promoted from Gold.

Meanwhile, 32 players have been placed in the Gold category. A total of 30 players are included in the Silver and Emerging categories.

Retention Policy and Auction Date

Before the auction, each franchise will be allowed to retain four players, with one player from each category.

The PSL 11 Players Auction is scheduled for February 11, marking the first auction-based selection in league history. The deadline for overseas player registration has been extended until February 3.

With categories now finalized, teams are preparing their strategies for the upcoming season. Cricket experts believe the new auction format will improve transparency and competitiveness.
