Pakistan has announced a major step to strengthen passport security and prevent forgery, with plans to introduce new and advanced security features in Pakistani passports.
The announcement was made by Mohsin Naqvi, who is currently on an official visit to China. During his visit, the interior minister toured the Beijing Public Security Passport Bureau, where he reviewed China’s passport issuance and immigration systems.

Mohsin Naqvi was received by the bureau’s Director General Sun Yu, who briefed him on the entire passport process, from application submission to printing and final issuance. The briefing also covered China’s immigration policies and the use of modern technology to ensure document security.
The interior minister praised the efficiency and effectiveness of China’s immigration and passport management system, describing it as a strong model for combating fraud and improving service delivery. He said Pakistan has already developed a fast-track and integrated passport and immigration system, but further improvements are being planned.
Mohsin Naqvi stated that Pakistan is working to modernize its immigration framework on the lines of the Beijing model, with a focus on enhanced verification, security features, and international standards.
Officials say the introduction of new security features will help reduce passport fraud, improve global credibility of Pakistani travel documents, and strengthen border security.
