Pakistan captain Salman Agha has said the team will again seek direction from the government if a knockout match against India arises in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Speaking in Colombo, Agha stated that decisions regarding India fixtures are beyond the team’s control and are based on government policy.
“If we reach the semi-final or final and are scheduled to play India, we will consult the government and follow their advice,” he said.
Group Stage Situation
Pakistan have already declined to play India in the group stage under government instructions. The team now faces a tight qualification scenario, where every match carries added importance.
Pakistan’s group opponents include:
- Netherlands
- Namibia
- United States
Losing points from the forfeited match makes net run rate and weather conditions more critical.
Team Confidence High
Agha said the squad remains confident despite the challenges. Pakistan recently completed a 3–0 series whitewash over Australia, boosting morale ahead of the tournament.
He added that playing in Sri Lanka feels comfortable for the team due to familiarity with conditions and strong fan support.
Focus on Cricket
The captain emphasized that the team’s primary focus remains on performance.
“The margin for error is small, but we are focused on playing good cricket,” Agha said.
