The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has taken a major step toward cleaner airport operations by deploying electric vehicles (EVs) across airport services.
A BYD electric vehicle, painted in yellow-and-black checkered livery, was recently spotted operating at a Pakistani airport, highlighting the shift toward environmentally friendly transport.

Reducing Emissions and Modernizing Fleets
The move is part of broader efforts to reduce emissions from ground operations and modernize airport support fleets. At Islamabad International Airport, the PAA has also issued a notice for the lease of a petrol pump and EV charging station, supporting both conventional fuel needs and an emerging EV infrastructure ecosystem.
Globally, airports are increasingly adopting EVs for airside and landside operations, noting lower emissions and quieter mobility. International aviation bodies have highlighted that electrifying airport fleets can significantly reduce vehicle-related emissions and advance sustainability goals.
BYD’s Growing Role in Pakistan’s EV Market
BYD is expected to expand its footprint in Pakistan with two new electric vehicle models launching locally before the end of January, giving Pakistani buyers more EV options.
