OpenAI has announced that ads will soon be tested in ChatGPT, specifically for free users of ChatGPT and ChatGPT Go.
According to the company, these ads will be personalized based on recent conversations but will be clearly labeled as advertisements and displayed below ChatGPT’s responses.
OpenAI assured users that sensitive topics like health, mental health, politics, or age-restricted content will never be shown in ads. Moreover, user conversations will not be sold or shared with advertisers, ensuring complete privacy.

Data Control and User Choice
Users will have the option to turn off personalization and clear the data used for ads, providing full control over their experience.
Subscription Plan Update
Alongside ads testing, OpenAI also introduced a global subscription plan for ChatGPT Go. The plan costs $8 per month, making it the company’s most affordable subscription. Paid subscribers will continue to enjoy an ad-free experience, while free users may see targeted ads.
OpenAI emphasized that this move aims to sustain free access for millions of users worldwide while offering subscription options for those who prefer an uninterrupted experience.
