The Sultanate of Oman has officially announced the first day of Ramadan for 2026.
According to the country’s official moon sighting authority, the crescent moon is not expected to be visible on the 29th of Sha’ban, based on astronomical calculations and observational data.

Oman’s Central Moon Sighting Committee confirmed that:

18 February will complete 30 days of Sha’ban.

1st Ramadan will begin on 19 February 2026.
Officials stated that the decision was taken after reviewing scientific calculations and traditional moon sighting criteria. On the 29th of Sha’ban, the moon will set before sunset across Oman, making physical sighting impossible.
