Pakistan has officially launched a nationwide polio vaccination campaign from today, aiming to protect more than 45 million children from the deadly disease.
Under the campaign, over 400,000 polio workers will go door to door to administer polio drops to children under the age of five across the country.
Special Security and Monitoring Arrangements
Authorities have confirmed that special security and monitoring arrangements have been put in place to ensure the campaign is carried out smoothly and effectively.
Officials stated that strong coordination between health departments, law enforcement agencies, and local administrations will help maximize coverage during the campaign.
Progress Made, Parental Cooperation Still Key
Health officials noted that Pakistan has made significant progress in the fight against polio in recent years. However, they emphasized that parental cooperation remains crucial to completely eradicate the virus.
Parents have been urged to ensure their children receive the vaccine to help make Pakistan polio-free.
Media’s Role Highlighted
Prime Minister’s Focal Person for Polio Eradication, Ayesha Raza, said during a press briefing that the eradication of polio is not possible without media support.
She added that with the launch of the first polio campaign of the year, Pakistan has now entered the final phase of polio eradication.
