NADRA Introduces Home-Based Facility to Update Personal Records

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a convenient digital facility that allows citizens to update their records from home, without visiting a NADRA office.

This service is available for Pakistanis living both inside the country and abroad, making identity record updates faster and more accessible.

How the Online Record Update Works

NADRA has expanded its digital services through the Pak-Identity (Pak ID) mobile app, enabling users to request changes to their CNIC or NICOP records online.

Citizens who wish to modify their NADRA data can now complete the entire process remotely using the app, saving time, travel costs, and long queues.

Two Types of NADRA Record Updates

NADRA classifies identity record changes into two categories:

1. Printable Information

Printable information refers to details that appear directly on the CNIC or NICOP, such as:

  • Name

  • Father’s or husband’s name

  • Date of birth

  • Permanent or current address

To update printable information, users must select “Update Card” in the Pak-Identity app.

2. Non-Printable Information

Non-printable information is stored in NADRA’s database but does not appear on the card, including:

  • Birth record details

  • Family members’ record

  • Marital status

  • Education

  • Mother tongue

Changes in this category can be requested through “Update Info” in the Pak-Identity app.

Important Note on Marital Status Updates

For male applicants, all types of marital status changes can be made under the non-printable category.

However, changing status from unmarried to married is treated as a printable update, as the spouse’s name must appear on the CNIC. In such cases, the “Update Card” option must be used.

Why This Facility Matters

  • No need to visit NADRA offices

  • Lower service fees compared to in-person processing

  • Faster and more transparent application tracking

  • Highly beneficial for overseas Pakistanis

Citizens are advised to use only official NADRA platforms for record updates to avoid fraud or delays.
