Students across Punjab have been granted significant relief amid the ongoing cold wave, as authorities have officially relaxed uniform rules for public sector colleges.
According to a notification issued by the Directorate of Public Instruction (Colleges), Punjab, students are now allowed to wear winter clothing of any colour due to the prevailing low temperatures across the province.

Under the revised instructions, students of public sector colleges may wear sweaters, jerseys, blazers, coats, jackets, caps, socks, and shoes of any colour. The relaxation applies to both male and female students and will remain in effect until February 28, 2026.
The decision was taken in view of the intensifying cold wave affecting Punjab, particularly during early morning hours when students commute to colleges. Officials said the measure aims to ensure student comfort and health without compromising attendance.
The Directorate has directed all Directors of Education (Colleges) to communicate these instructions to deputy directors and college principals across their respective jurisdictions to ensure uniform implementation.
Students and parents have welcomed the move, calling it a timely and practical step that prioritizes student well-being during harsh winter conditions.
