The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has announced that electricity bills for solar system users under the net metering project will be reissued.
According to sources, LESCO had removed export units from the bills following a directive from the Power Planning & Monitoring Company (PPMC). This caused inconvenience for solar users, as they were not receiving proper credit for the electricity they exported to the grid.
Reason for Reissuing Bills
-
Solar users’ meter readings on January 20 were recorded accurately.
-
After the reading, LESCO billed only import units, ignoring the export units generated by solar systems.
-
The PPMC has now instructed LESCO to reprint bills using the correct formula for export units and MD&I readings to ensure users receive full credit.
Benefits for Solar Users
-
Customers will now get proper credit for electricity exported to the grid.
-
Reprinted bills will reflect actual usage and savings, preventing overbilling.
-
This decision encourages more consumers to adopt solar systems without fearing billing errors.
