Lahore Police has rolled out a new policy framework for 2026, introducing performance benchmarks that place strong emphasis on public interaction and citizen feedback. The move is aimed at strengthening accountability and rebuilding public confidence in the force.
Under the new guidelines, officers from constable level up to SHO rank will operate under a uniform code of conduct during what authorities have termed a transition year. Police personnel will be required to address male visitors as “Sir” and female visitors as “Ma’am”, while maintaining a respectful and professional tone in all public dealings.

A senior police official said police stations across Lahore will now function as citizen facilitation centers, rather than environments that discourage complaints. He acknowledged that inappropriate behavior by staff has been a long-standing concern and said the department is introducing structured reforms to address it.
The policy empowers authorities to take immediate departmental action, including suspensions and transfers, against officials found guilty of misconduct or abuse of authority inside police stations. It also makes it compulsory for SHOs, muharrars, and staff to formally document feedback from every visitor, covering their experience from arrival to departure.
In addition, response times of the 15 emergency helpline and police patrol units will now directly affect station performance evaluations. Similar standards will apply to police checkpoints, where complaints of harassment and unnecessary stops have increased.
Officials said updated instructions have also been issued to ensure that identity checks and security measures remain lawful and do not cause undue inconvenience. The reforms follow repeated public complaints and build on accountability measures initiated during 2026.
