With the Basant festival approaching, the Punjab Health Department has issued a high alert for 13 government hospitals in Lahore. The alert covers the period from 6th to 8th February, ensuring that hospitals are fully prepared for any emergencies.
Hospital Preparedness
All 13 hospitals have been instructed to ensure:
- Full presence of medical, nursing, and paramedical staff
- Availability of medicines, drips, vaccines, and surgical equipment
- Preparation of blood bags and a list of voluntary blood donors
Emergency Equipment
The Health Department has also directed that hospitals must keep all diagnostic and emergency machines fully functional:
- X-ray machines
- Ultrasound
- CT scan
- MRI machines
Basant-Specific Measures
Special beds will be allocated for Basant-related emergencies. The alert aims to provide immediate medical support to citizens during the festival, which is traditionally marked by kite flying and can result in injuries or accidents.
