The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has started implementing a comprehensive plan to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply and public safety during the Basant celebrations in Lahore.
According to Chief Engineer Muhammad Ramzan Butt, the strategy will be active from February 6 to 8, with full preparedness across the city to manage any emergency situation.
24/7 Control Room and Staff Deployment
LESCO officials and operational staff will remain present in control rooms around the clock. Duties have been divided into three shifts, allowing rapid response to faults or technical issues to maintain steady power supply.
Special Safety Measures in Sensitive Areas
Extra precautionary steps are being taken in key locations, including:
- Delhi Gate
- Kashmiri Gate
- Sheranwala Gate
- Bhati Gate
- Haveli Asif Jah
In addition, electrical installations along Ferozepur Road, Liberty, Gulberg, and the inner city areas are being secured to prevent damage or accidents.
Public Safety Advisory
Chief Engineer Muhammad Ramzan Butt urged citizens to avoid using metallic or chemical kite strings, as they pose serious threats to human lives and electrical systems. Such materials can cause power faults, injuries, and even fatal incidents.
Ensuring a Safe Basant Celebration
Authorities stressed that public cooperation is essential for a safe festival. With preventive steps and continuous monitoring, LESCO aims to ensure that Basant celebrations proceed without major power disruptions.
