Ahead of the upcoming Basant celebrations, authorities in Lahore have finalized special security arrangements to ensure public safety. The Safe Cities Authority Lahore has deployed advanced surveillance systems, including modern drone cameras, across the city to closely monitor activities during the festival.
The move reflects growing reliance on technology to manage crowd safety and enforce regulations during major public events.

Drone Surveillance Across Key Areas of Lahore
According to Safe City officials, 30 advanced surveillance cameras have been installed at important locations across Lahore to monitor Basant-related activities.
The city’s six divisions will each be covered by five drone cameras, ensuring comprehensive monitoring of major residential and commercial areas.
Night Vision Drones to Remain Active
Officials confirmed that the deployed drones are equipped with night vision technology, allowing effective surveillance even after sunset.
These drones will remain fully operational throughout all three days of Basant celebrations, providing continuous aerial monitoring across the city.
Lahore Police to Assist Through Aerial Monitoring
The Lahore Police will also utilize drone surveillance to identify violations and maintain law and order.
In addition, Safe Cities Authority staff have been assigned extra monitoring duties, working across three shifts to ensure uninterrupted surveillance and rapid response during the festival.
Public Asked to Cooperate With Authorities
Authorities have urged citizens to strictly follow government-issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to Basant.
Residents have also been requested to report any violations immediately via the police helpline 15, helping authorities take timely action.
Why These Measures Matter
Basant has historically posed safety challenges due to overcrowding and illegal activities. Officials believe that enhanced surveillance will:
-
Improve public safety
-
Enable quick identification of violations
-
Strengthen enforcement of SOPs
-
Reduce risks during celebrations
