Apple is preparing a major shift in its 2026 lineup, and new leaks reveal that the company’s first foldable iPhone will be its most expensive device ever.
According to reports, Apple may skip the standard iPhone 18 series next year. Instead, the September 2026 event will likely feature just three models: iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the new iPhone Fold.

Lower-cost models like the iPhone Air 2 and iPhone 18e are expected to launch later in spring 2027.
⭐ Leaked Price
A new leak from Investing suggests the iPhone Fold may start at $2,399, placing it above all current foldable phones in the market.
Earlier estimates said the price could fall between $2,000 and $2,500, but the latest leak points strongly toward the higher end.
📌 Why It’s So Expensive
Analysts say several factors are pushing the price up:
-
Rising global smartphone component costs
-
RAM prices up 75% compared to last year
-
A 5–7% increase expected in overall materials cost
-
High-cost foldable OLED panels
-
Premium hinge mechanism
-
Lightweight internals
-
Reports suggest Apple wants a crease-free display, which requires expensive Samsung panels
📉 Industry Forecast
Smartphone shipments are expected to drop 4% in 2026, and global iPhone sales may also fall. However, the iPhone Fold alone is expected to sell 5.4 million units in 2026 and 15.4 million units overall.
