Govt Announces 10,000 Free Laptops for Students of Private Schools

The provincial government has announced a major expansion of its student support program by including private school students in the laptop distribution scheme, under which 10,000 free laptops will be provided.

Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar said the decision has been approved by the competent authority, confirming that the laptop distribution will be completed within the current year. He also revealed that the education development budget has been increased to Rs. 110 billion, reflecting the government’s focus on improving the education sector.

The minister shared that during 2026, the government upgraded 268 schools across the province and took action in 37 cases related to teacher harassment. He added that the Teacher Takreem Awards were launched for the first time to recognize outstanding contributions by educators.

Rana Sikandar further said that work has started on establishing Centres of Excellence in 10 districts, along with plans to develop 300 Schools of Eminence across the province. These initiatives aim to improve learning standards and provide students with better academic facilities.

The inclusion of private school students in the laptop scheme is expected to benefit thousands of learners and support digital education across both public and private institutions.
