Chicken prices in Lahore have surged sharply, putting additional pressure on households already struggling with rising living costs.
In the city’s retail markets, chicken meat is now selling at Rs. 600 per kilogram, while the official government rate stands at Rs. 595 per kg.

Current Market Rates
According to market data:
-
Live farm chicken: Rs. 383 per kg
-
Wholesale price: Rs. 397 per kg
-
Retail price: Rs. 411 per kg
Despite official price controls, consumers report paying significantly higher rates in many areas.
Egg Prices Also Increase
Alongside chicken meat, farm eggs have also seen a sharp rise, with prices reaching Rs. 340 per dozen in the black market, further increasing the burden on families.
Public Reaction
Citizens say that even basic food items are slipping out of reach, making it increasingly difficult for low- and middle-income households to manage daily expenses.
Rising poultry prices have added to inflation concerns, with consumers urging authorities to ensure price monitoring and effective enforcement.
