Cement Prices Increase in Northern Pakistan Amid Export Decline

Cement prices have witnessed a fresh increase in Pakistan’s northern region, adding further pressure on the construction sector and end consumers. According to Topline Securities, cement manufacturers have raised prices by Rs 30 to Rs 50 per bag with immediate effect.

The increase comes at a time when Pakistan’s cement exports are already under pressure, raising concerns about demand sustainability and industry performance in the coming months

Export Decline Adds to Industry Challenges

Data shows that Pakistan’s cement exports dropped by more than 20 percent in December 2025 compared to the same period last year. The decline reflects weaker international demand and logistical challenges faced by exporters.

Exports from the southern region also declined during December 2025, falling by 7.14 percent to 621,685 tons, compared to 669,461 tons in December of the previous year.

No Exports from Northern Region in December

Interestingly, reports indicate that no cement exports were recorded from northern Pakistan in December 2025, highlighting the growing imbalance between domestic pricing and export competitiveness.

During the July to December 2025 period, cement exports from the northern region declined by 18.53 percent, totaling 808,506 tons, compared to 992,413 tons during the same period last year.

Impact on Construction and Consumers

Industry experts believe that rising cement prices could slow down construction activity, particularly in private housing and small-scale projects. At the same time, falling exports limit manufacturers’ ability to offset domestic cost increases through foreign earnings.

Despite weaker exports, manufacturers appear to be relying on price adjustments in the local market to maintain margins, a move that could further impact demand if prices continue to rise.
