Brisbane Heat have officially named Pakistan’s fast bowler Zaman Khan as the replacement for the injured Shaheen Shah Afridi for the remainder of the 2026/26 Big Bash League (BBL 15) season. The 24-year-old right-arm pacer has been cleared by the BBL Technical Committee and will be available for selection ahead of the Heat’s clash against his former team, Sydney Thunder, at the Gabba this Saturday.

Zaman has previously represented Sydney Thunder during BBL|13, claiming eight wickets in four matches at an average of 16.38. His international experience includes 10 T20Is and 1 ODI for Pakistan, alongside strong performances in PSL, Abu Dhabi T10, and England’s The Hundred.
Brisbane Heat head coach Johan Botha praised Zaman’s impact, saying he is “a genuine wicket-taker early on” and can bring flexibility to the bowling attack during crucial moments. The Heat are targeting a top-four finish, with upcoming fixtures against Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder shaping their BBL campaign.
Zaman’s arrival is expected to strengthen Brisbane Heat’s bowling lineup and add fresh energy to their T20 strategy as they aim for finals success.
