The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has announced a major facilitation for deserving families by introducing free mobile SIM cards under its Social Protection Wallet system.
The initiative aims to ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive payment alerts, official updates, and 8171 messages directly and securely, reducing the risk of fraud and misinformation.

Who Can Get the Free SIM
According to BISP officials, eligible beneficiaries can obtain the free SIM by visiting their nearest BISP camp site or office with:
-
Original CNIC
-
A mobile phone
After initial screening, eligible individuals will be issued a token. The SIM will then be provided at the issuance counter following biometric verification and will be activated immediately.
Important Instructions for Beneficiaries
BISP has issued clear guidelines regarding the use of the SIM:
-
The SIM must be kept for personal use only
-
It should not be shared with anyone
-
The phone should remain switched on to receive all official messages
-
All BISP-related communication will be sent through 8171
Officials emphasized that this measure will help beneficiaries stay informed about payments and program updates without relying on third parties.
What Is the Social Protection Wallet
BISP Chairperson Rubina Khalid said the Social Protection Wallet has been designed to make the payment system more transparent, secure, and efficient.
She confirmed that the distribution of free SIM cards has already started for registered women, and in the future, all financial assistance will be transferred through this digital system.
No Charges Involved
BISP has strongly warned beneficiaries that:
-
The SIM card is completely free
-
No fee or payment should be made to anyone
-
Any demand for money should be reported immediately
Why This Matters
The move is expected to:
-
Improve payment transparency
-
Reduce fraud and middlemen involvement
-
Strengthen direct communication with beneficiaries
BISP officials say the initiative is a key step toward modernizing Pakistan’s social protection framework and ensuring timely support for vulnerable families.
