Sources say negotiations among the three cricket bodies lasted more than five hours, with all sides working to reach a mutually acceptable solution.
The ICC reportedly responded positively to concerns raised by the BCB, and a framework has been developed to address Bangladesh’s grievances related to past issues.
PCB Played Role of Facilitator
During the talks, most proposals were exchanged between the ICC and BCB, while the PCB mainly served as a facilitator to help coordinate discussions.
ICC Deputy Chairman Imran Khwaja reportedly left the meeting to seek final approval for the proposed recommendations.
Meanwhile, the BCB president returned home to brief the Bangladesh government about the progress.
More Talks Expected Soon
After agreeing on a shared framework, ICC and BCB officials are expected to reconnect to continue discussions and move toward a final outcome.
Sources believe a major breakthrough could be announced within 24 hours.
PCB Chairman to Meet Prime Minister
Separately, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is expected to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif within the next one or two days.
The meeting will focus on the scheduled Pakistan vs India match at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which is set to take place on February 15 in Sri Lanka.
The ICC has requested the meeting, and Naqvi is expected to seek formal instructions from the prime minister.
Final Decision Rests with Prime Minister
Sources stress that the final decision on whether Pakistan will play India will be taken by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Earlier, the prime minister reaffirmed the government’s stance, stating that Pakistan will not play India in the tournament.
He emphasized that sports should remain free from politics but said the decision was made after careful consideration.
Final Thoughts
With high-level meetings underway and intense diplomatic efforts continuing, cricket fans in Pakistan are closely watching developments that could shape one of the most anticipated fixtures in world cricket.
