ICC Rejects Bangladesh’s Request to Move T20 World Cup 2026 Matches from India

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially rejected the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) request to move their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 matches from India to Sri Lanka over security concerns.

The decision came during a virtual ICC Board meeting held on Wednesday, January 21, which was convened specifically to address Bangladesh’s venue-change request.

In its official statement, the ICC confirmed:

“The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 will proceed as scheduled, with Bangladesh’s matches to be played in India.”

The ICC added that it found no credible security threat to players, media personnel, or fans at any tournament venues in India. The governing body also emphasized that rescheduling less than a month before the tournament was not feasible.

The ICC confirmed it provided detailed information on security arrangements, including layered federal and state law enforcement support, during multiple meetings with the BCB.
