LESCO to Shift Electricity Bill Collection System to 1LINK

The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has decided to introduce a major reform in its electricity bill recovery mechanism by shifting the entire collection system to 1LINK.

According to LESCO officials, the move aims to improve financial transparency, faster fund transfers, and better monitoring of bill recoveries across the company’s service areas.

How the New System Will Work

Under the new arrangement, electricity bill payments collected through banks and digital channels connected to 1LINK will be credited directly and instantly into LESCO’s accounts. This will eliminate delays currently faced during fund verification and settlement.

At present, bill collections pass through multiple stages, often taking several hours before reaching LESCO’s accounts. The 1LINK-based system will streamline this process into a single, real-time transaction flow.

Why LESCO Is Making This Change

Officials say the existing collection setup slows down verification and creates gaps in monitoring. By integrating with 1LINK, LESCO expects:

  • Faster transfer of collected bill payments

  • Improved recovery ratios

  • Real-time tracking of funds

  • Reduced manual intervention

  • Greater financial transparency

The new system will allow LESCO to monitor incoming payments more efficiently and reduce dependency on delayed reconciliation processes.

Impact on Consumers

For electricity consumers, the payment process will remain largely unchanged. Bills paid through banks, ATMs, mobile apps, and digital platforms will continue as usual, but backend processing will become faster and more secure.

LESCO believes this transition will strengthen its revenue management system and support better operational planning.

What’s Next

LESCO has started internal consultations and technical preparations to implement the 1LINK-based recovery model. A formal rollout timeline is expected to be announced after system integration and testing are completed.
