The Punjab Government has decided to establish a Nursing Centre of Excellence in Rawalpindi, aiming to strengthen healthcare education and professional training in the region.
According to sources in the Punjab Health Department, formal contact has been made with the federal government to request the transfer of land currently occupied by the Federal TB Centre Rawalpindi.

Officials said that once possession of the site is handed over, the existing Federal TB Centre building will be demolished. Construction work on the Nursing Centre of Excellence will begin immediately at the same location.
Sources further confirmed that the project will be developed with financial support from the Asian Development Bank, underlining its importance as a large-scale healthcare initiative.
The proposed centre is expected to play a key role in improving nursing education standards, enhancing workforce capacity, and addressing shortages in trained medical staff across Punjab.
