Updated flour prices from different cities across Pakistan show sharp increases in several regions, adding pressure to household budgets and raising concerns over the cost of basic food items.
In Islamabad, the price of flour has increased by Rs. 10 per kilogram, a development that may soon lead to higher prices for roti and naan.

Price Situation in Northern Cities
In Balakot, fine flour is selling at Rs. 6,000 per maund, while double super flour is priced at Rs. 5,800 per maund. In some markets, the price has reached Rs. 5,880 per maund. Residents have urged the government to intervene and control prices.
In Peshawar, flour prices have remained stable. Mixed flour is available at Rs. 2,900 for a 20kg bag, while fine flour continues to sell at Rs. 3,000 for 20kg.
Southern Punjab Sees Sharp Increases
In Multan, flour prices have risen by up to Rs. 20 per kilogram, with retail rates reaching Rs. 130 per kg.
Similarly, in Talagang, flour has moved out of reach for many residents. Standard flour is selling between Rs. 120 and Rs. 130 per kg, while chakki flour made from red wheat has climbed to Rs. 140–150 per kg. Just days ago, the same flour was available at Rs. 90 per kg. Wheat prices in the city have increased by Rs. 1,500 per maund within two months, with open market rates now between Rs. 4,000 and Rs. 4,300 per maund.
Kasur and Chaman Also Affected
In Kasur, both wheat and flour prices have surged sharply. Fine flour, previously sold at Rs. 90 per kg, is now available at Rs. 120 per kg. Chakki flour has increased from Rs. 115 per kg to Rs. 140–145 per kg. Fine maida prices have also risen by Rs. 15 per kg, with an 80kg bag now selling between Rs. 10,800 and Rs. 11,000. Wheat prices here have also risen by Rs. 1,500 per maund in two months.
In Chaman, flour prices have jumped dramatically. Over the past week, the price of a 100kg flour bag increased by Rs. 2,500. Market associations attribute the surge to a halt in flour supply from Punjab. As a result, the price of a 50kg bag rose by Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 1,200 within a single week.
Public Concern Grows
Consumers across multiple cities have expressed concern over rising flour prices, calling on authorities to ensure stable wheat supply and market oversight to prevent further escalation in the cost of essential food items.
