Punjab Revenue Authority Launches Crackdown Against Tax Defaulters

The Punjab Revenue Authority has intensified enforcement actions against tax defaulters and sales tax violators across Punjab, sealing multiple business premises over serious irregularities.

According to officials, enforcement teams sealed three locations, including a well-known food chain, for failing to issue e-bills and manipulating sales records. The actions were part of an ongoing campaign to ensure compliance with sales tax regulations.

Monitoring Intensified in Lahore and Gujranwala

In Lahore and Gujranwala, PRA deployed officers to closely monitor Point of Sale (POS) systems at multiple food outlets. During inspections, authorities detected irregular sales data and tax non-compliance, leading to immediate enforcement measures.

Officials also recovered amounts from businesses that had deducted sales tax from customers but failed to deposit it into the national treasury.

Notices Issued to Marriage Halls and Commercial Points

Enforcement officers issued formal notices to wedding halls, marquees, and other commercial establishments for not maintaining proper sales records. The authority warned that failure to comply could result in sealing, penalties, or further legal action.

Public Asked to Report E-Bill Violations

The PRA has urged consumers to play their role by reporting businesses that do not issue e-bills. Complaints can be registered through the official “Sahulat” mobile application, which helps authorities take timely action against violators.

Officials said the crackdown will continue and emphasized that tax evasion will not be tolerated, as proper tax collection is essential for public services and provincial development.
