As severe cold weather continues to disrupt daily life across several regions, debate over whether schools should reopen on schedule is gaining momentum. Parents’ opinions have also been taken into account as authorities review the situation.
A large number of parents have demanded a one-week extension in school holidays, citing health concerns for children amid falling temperatures.

Temperature-Based Holiday Extension Under Consideration
Meanwhile, a key proposal has surfaced suggesting that school holidays may be extended until January 19 in districts where temperatures fall below 5°C. Following this proposal, district education authorities have been asked to submit updated temperature data for their respective areas.
Officials say a final decision will be made after consultations, and an announcement regarding extended holidays is expected later today.
Decision Expected Soon
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat stated that a decision regarding the extension of winter vacations will be finalized shortly, keeping weather conditions and student safety in view.
Parents and students are advised to stay alert for official notifications.
