Meta has announced the rollout of early 2026 features for WhatsApp, aimed at significantly improving the group chat experience for users worldwide.
The popular messaging app is introducing three new group-focused features: Member Tags, Text Stickers, and Event Reminders. According to Meta, the update is designed to make group conversations more organized, expressive, and easier to manage.

Member Tags: Clear Identity in Every Group
With the new Member Tags feature, users can now assign themselves a custom name or role for each group. This allows participants to better understand who is who in a conversation, especially in large or professional groups.
For example, a user can choose one identity in a family group and a completely different role-based tag in a work or sports group. Each group can have a separate and unique tag, offering greater flexibility and clarity.
Text Stickers: Turn Words Into Stickers
Another new addition is Text Stickers, which allow users to convert any word or phrase into a sticker. By typing text into the sticker search, users can instantly create custom stickers.
These stickers can also be saved directly into sticker packs, making them reusable without needing to send them in a chat first. The feature adds a creative and expressive layer to everyday conversations.
Event Reminders: Never Miss a Group Event
The third feature focuses on Event Reminders. WhatsApp now allows users to set custom reminders when creating events inside group chats.
Once an event is created, reminders can be scheduled so that group members are notified in advance. This is especially useful for meetings, gatherings, online sessions, and social plans.
Gradual Rollout Underway
Meta confirmed that the rollout of these features has already begun and will be completed in phases over the coming days, after which they will be available to all users globally.
The update reflects WhatsApp’s continued effort to strengthen group communication, building on recent improvements such as large file sharing, HD media, voice chats, and screen sharing.
