WhatsApp has started rolling out a set of new features for group chats, aimed at making conversations more organized, interactive, and easier to manage.
The update introduces member tags, text-based stickers, and improved event reminders, as part of WhatsApp’s ongoing effort to enhance group communication.
Member Tags: Know Who’s Who in Groups
One of the key additions is member tags, which allow users to assign themselves a custom label inside a group chat. These tags help other members quickly understand who you are or what role you play in that specific group.
For example, a user can appear as “Anna’s Dad” in a family group, while using “Goalkeeper” in a sports-related group. The feature is designed to reduce confusion, especially in large or professional groups where participants may not know each other personally.
Text Stickers: Turn Words Into Stickers
WhatsApp has also expanded its sticker tools by introducing text stickers. Users can now convert any typed word or phrase into a sticker directly through Sticker Search.
These custom text stickers can be added to personal sticker packs without needing to send them in a chat first, giving users more creative freedom and quicker access during conversations.
Event Reminders Get Smarter
Another useful addition is custom event reminders within group chats. When creating an event, users can now set reminders for invitees, ensuring participants are notified ahead of time.
This feature is particularly useful for meetings, family gatherings, matches, or online sessions, helping group members stay informed and on schedule.
