Japan Announces MEXT Teacher Training Scholarship 2026 for Pakistanis

Pakistani teachers have received a major opportunity as the Japan government has officially announced the MEXT Teacher Training Scholarship 2026 for educators from Pakistan.

The scholarship is offered by Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and is aimed at school teachers who wish to gain professional training and research experience in the field of school education at Japanese universities.

According to the official announcement, selected candidates will participate in a non-degree teacher training and research program at a university in Japan. The program is not linked to bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD degrees and is designed purely for professional development and educational research. Participants will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the program.

The program generally begins in October, and successful applicants will also undergo Japanese language training before the start of academic activities, as most instruction and research guidance is conducted in Japanese.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Date of birth on or after April 2, 1991

  • A university degree or teacher training qualification

  • At least five years of teaching experience at the primary or secondary school level, or at a teacher training institution, by October 1, 2026

  • Willingness to live and conduct research in a foreign cultural environment for approximately 18 months

  • Readiness to learn the Japanese language

University faculty members are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Application Deadline

The last date to submit applications is February 12, 2026. Detailed information, including the application procedure and required documents, is available on the official website of the Embassy of Japan in Pakistan.

Officials have encouraged eligible teachers to apply in time and take advantage of this opportunity to gain international exposure, advanced training, and practical insights into Japan’s education system.
