Prices of chicken meat have continued to rise across the country, making it increasingly difficult for low- and middle-income households to manage daily food expenses.
Following the latest increase, broiler chicken meat is now selling at Rs. 595 per kilogram, while cleaned chicken meat has climbed to a record Rs. 700 per kilogram in retail markets.

According to market rates, the live broiler chicken prices have been fixed at:
-
Farm rate: Rs. 383 per kg
-
Wholesale rate: Rs. 397 per kg
-
Retail rate: Rs. 411 per kg
Meanwhile, farm eggs have also become more expensive, with prices rising to Rs. 320 per dozen, adding to the burden on consumers.
Market experts say the continuous rise in poultry and egg prices is putting significant pressure on household budgets, especially for families that rely on chicken and eggs as affordable sources of protein. They warn that if the upward trend continues, access to these basic food items could become even more challenging for poorer segments of society.
Consumers have urged authorities to monitor prices more closely to prevent further hardship amid already rising living costs.
