The Lahore High Court Bar Association has announced that its annual elections will be held in February 2026, with biometric voting confirmed as a mandatory requirement.

Deadline Extended for Lawyers’ Convenience

Sources say that after concerns were raised about a large number of lawyers still pending registration, the LHCBA administration decided to extend the biometric registration deadline until January 8. Officials clarified that the extension has been granted solely to facilitate lawyers, and no further relaxation will be allowed.

The Secretary of the Lahore High Court Bar Association has clearly stated that lawyers who fail to complete biometric registration by the deadline will be declared ineligible to participate in the elections. This includes both contesting elections and casting votes.

Bar authorities emphasized that without biometric verification:

  • A lawyer’s name will not be included in the voter list

  • The lawyer will not be allowed to vote on election day

Purpose of Biometric System

According to bar officials, the introduction of biometric verification aims to ensure transparent, fair, and dispute-free elections, allowing only verified and eligible lawyers to take part in the electoral process.

Lawyers have been strongly advised to complete the biometric process within the given timeframe to avoid disqualification or last-minute complications.

Election Preparations Underway

Administrative preparations for the February 2026 elections are currently in progress. Once the biometric registration phase is completed, the final voter list will be issued by the bar association.
