The Punjab government has announced plans to further expand its electric bus network, extending the service to five additional cities as part of its ongoing public transport reforms.
According to an official notice issued under the provincial transport initiative, electric bus operations will be launched in Rajanpur, Gujar Khan, Bahawalpur, Toba Tek Singh, and Rahim Yar Khan. The move signals the next phase of Punjab’s shift toward cleaner and more sustainable urban transport.

The notice states that the electric buses will be equipped with air conditioning, onboard Wi-Fi, and accessibility features for passengers with disabilities, aiming to improve comfort and inclusivity for daily commuters. Officials have described the service as an environment-friendly alternative to conventional fuel-based transport.
The announcement was shared by the Punjab Transport Company, which oversees public transport projects across the province. However, authorities have not yet disclosed specific launch dates, routes, or fare structures for the new cities.
Officials indicated that further details will be announced in due course as preparations progress. The expansion is expected to strengthen public transport access in smaller cities while supporting Punjab’s broader goals of reducing emissions and modernizing urban mobility.
